All TLCS Activities Suspended Due to Coronavirus Guidance

Writer: TLCSTLCS

It is with heavy hearts that we share this news from Pastor Paul. Please keep our church family, community, state, nation, and world in your prayers during these unprecedented events. If you need help or assistance, please contact us via our website home page (scroll to the bottom of the page), via Facebook Messenger, or by calling 231-832-5186.

Dear members of Trinity Lutheran Church and School,

Once again, this is a very difficult letter to write, and a very difficult decision for myself and our

leadership to make. Please know that this decision was not made lightly or without prayer.

The leadership of Trinity and I feel it is in the best interest and health of our congregation to pause having physical services (Wednesday Lent Services, Saturday and Sunday services) at Trinity for the duration of Governor Whitmer’s orders concerning gatherings and school closure. We have made this decision while looking at the current restrictions on meeting together put in place by our governor, and the recommendations given by the CDC of postponing gatherings of 50 or more, and the White House recommending gatherings of 10 or more people to be postponed, we want acknowledge the seriousness of this virus. This decision will have us sharing online services through Palm Sunday weekend, which is

April 4/5.

Please note that we are not giving up worship and meeting together, it is just that our meeting together will look very different. We will live stream services on Facebook at our normal service time, at 9 AM on Sunday mornings. We will also be placing the video of the service on our website for people who are not able to access Facebook. We are looking at other ways to help you worship during this time when we can not meet face to face. We will have a short daily devotion on our Facebook page each morning to remind us of God’s faithfulness in the midst of uncertain times.

Some people have asked about tithing during this time. We have added an online giving option on our webpage, you can click here, or you can mail your offering to Trinity Lutheran Church and School, 19778 US 10, Reed City, MI 49677.

We are all here for each other during this time and most importantly, God is here with and for us. For our church members, in the next day or two you will also be hearing from your Elder concerning these items. If you have any needs, please let your elder know, or you can call me at 231-872-0011.

Our greatest need is to know God’s love and forgiveness, and that is what we will continue to remind ourselves of in this time. We remember Jesus’ words in Matthew 28 “Surely I am with you ALWAYS, even to the end of the age.”

Take a look at the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 46, 91, and 121.

“Our help is in the name of the Lord...”

Please continue to practice good and safe hygiene practices as we work through this time together. As we look forward to celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, we also look forward to when we can worship together in person. May the Lord bless you with good health and a strengthened faith and witness during this time.

“Peace I leave you, My Peace I give to you. Not as the world gives, do I give to you. So let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14: 27

In Christ,

Pastor Paul Tonn
