about us
We are a community of Lutheran Christians who are part of God's family in the Reed City area. We see ourselves as people of God who gather for worship, for service, for study, and for fellowship in order to carry the Good News of our Lord Jesus into our community and the world. The 'blueprint' for our ministry is God's Word: the Bible.
Our congregation is part of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, a national organization of 6,000+ Lutheran Churches - and it actively supports the missions and charities at home and abroad.
The focal point of our week is the time that we spend together in worship, praising God, giving Him thanks and receiving His strength and guidance for our lives. It is a time to share common needs, concerns, and joy in prayer.
It is our sincere hope and prayer that your introduction to our family will be a happy one and that we, through Christ, will be a blessing to you.
TEACHING + LIVING + CARING + SERVING as the Family of Christ
TEACHING GOD’S WORD IN CHURCH AND SCHOOL
We will teach all people about God. We will teach them that He is a loving God who forgives us our sins, no matter what they are, providing we can see the error of our ways and ask Him to forgive us. We will teach them the Gospel, the Ten Commandments that God gave to Moses, the Holy Sacraments, the Doctrine of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, and the Christian way of life.
LIVING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE
As children of God, we will show this to others by the manner in which we live; to live in God’s image and to know Him as our Savior. This will be passed on to our children and to others so that they may come to know the true God.
CARING FOR THE EARTHLY AND SPIRITUAL NEEDS OF ALL PEOPLE
Because of Christ's example to us, we will show others that we care for each and every one of them. We will do this by reaching out and sharing God's Word and His bountiful blessings with the world wide community through evangelism and missions.
SERVING OUR LORD IN OUR COMMUNITY AND WORLD
We are called to be the hands and feet of Christ. We will serve others in our community, state, and world through volunteering, advocating, and providing assistance to those in need.
AS THE FAMILY OF CHRIST
We are the "Family of Christ" because He chose us to be His followers, His chosen people. He did not leave anyone out of His master plan. We make that choice for ourselves. Anyone and everyone can and should belong to the 'Family of Christ", so that we may have eternal life with Him in Heaven.
our mission and vision
our belief
THE LUTHERAN CHURCH - MISSOURI SYNOD
With the universal Christian Church, The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God: the Father, creator of all that exists; Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God's Word and Sacraments. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and co-eternal, one God.

It is the goal of this ladies group to become more familiar with the whole Bible which speaks from cover to cover of the "love of God in Jesus Christ our Savior". We do this by alternating between the Old and New Testament books. In one hour sessions, we share and compare, and through BIble helps and commentary notes, get new insights into God's Word. Human CareBIRTHDAY CAKES We have a great privilege of making birthday cakes for the children at Eagle Village. The members of our church have been making cakes since 1971! As we know, every child likes to have a special treat on their birthday! PAPER PANTRY In conjunction with LOVE, Inc., Trinity Lutheran Church and School offers a paper and personal care pantry to those in need throughout the community. Those looking for assistance need to contact LOVE, Inc. to begin the process (231-779-1888). QUILTER'S FOR WORLD RELIEF The ladies of our congregation cut and sew together squares to make quilt tops for this wonderful cause. Next they tie the quilts together. These are then packed and taken to a distribution center to be shipped to New York where they are distributed around the world as needed. These quilts are special to any individual on the receiving end. They can bring warmth on a cold night or protection from the sun on a hot day. They can be a bed, a room divider, or a backpack to carry belongings. The quilts sometimes even provide the shelter of a home. Any donation of fabric, sheets, or batting is a tremendous help in making these quilts.

REED CITY CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING Our Men's Group adorns the community tree by the Reed City Depot with Christmas lights in preparation for the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Friday after Thanksgiving. This is part of the Reed City Evergreen Festival. The Tree Lighting Ceremony begins at 6:00 pm and includes carol singing, warming fire, hot cocoa, and cookies. REFRESH REED CITY Our church has led the effort to help "refresh" Reed City by assisting with coordinating volunteers to help with local clean-up projects. This includes re-mulching the downtown bump-outs, local parks, and depot area. It also includes park and trail clean-up and assisting with small repair and painting projects. The event concludes with a picnic and music at Westerburg Park. Church VolunteersALTAR GUILD Altar Guild meets, as a group, every other month. Our duties consist of setting up and taking down after the service for communion, baptisms, weddings, and funerals. We also change the banners throughout the sanctuary, keep candles filled, change paraments according to a set schedule, and keep the chancel & sacristy clean. For all baptisms we provide a baptismal candle and napkin as a keepsake. LECTORS Lectors assist in the church service by reading the Old Testament and the Epistle scripture lessons. Being a lector is a wonderful way to serve the Lord and use your God given talents. USHERS Ushers are a vital part of each worship service. They hand out the church bulletins, collect the offering and direct our members to the communion table. We are always in need of volunteers for this role in our worship service. PRAYER CHAIN "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."(Romans 12:12) We have a ministry here at Trinity Lutheran Church and School known as the "Prayer Chain". The current prayer chain consists of a group of members who act as "prayer warriors". We welcome all types of prayer requests. Most prayers usually fall into three main categories: prayers for healing, prayers for strength following the death of a loved one, and prayers of thanksgiving. FUNERAL COMMITTEE The Funeral Committee is available to provide a luncheon after the funeral service for a time of comfort to family and friends. This committee is made up of the entire congregation as they help by donating their time to work, food to serve, or monetary gifts to help offset any costs involved. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (V.B.S.) Vacation Bible School (V.B.S.) is held every summer for one full week. Not only is V.B.S. a wonderful education opportunity for our member children, it is a very important outreach to children of the community. We invite all children, ages 4 year old preschool – 6th grade, to join our fun! Those students who are older are a great asset in helping to assist in the different classrooms. Our curriculum includes music, games, crafts, lessons, and so much more! We also provide snacks and have outdoor activities. We end the week with the children being invited to attend Sunday morning worship and share some of the songs they learned with the congregation. We are always looking for volunteers to help in many different ways. GREETERS This is our way of reaching out and welcoming everyone as they enter the church doors with a warm and friendly smile. We are watchful of our newest members and especially all the guests attending. We kindly ask the guests to sign our guest book located on the Welcome Center. We also try to introduce them to others who may be standing nearby.
